Honoring Your Service—We Need Your Voice
Have You or a Loved One Lost Access to a Trusted Primary Care Provider?
If you're a Tricare beneficiary who has built a relationship with our clinic—whether for managing your blood pressure, thyroid health, weight, or overall wellness—you may be wondering, “Why do I suddenly need to find a new provider?”
You're not alone. Many military families across Texas are facing similar disruptions due to recent changes in the Tricare network. Today, we want to offer clarity, support, and a path forward.
The Transition to Primary Care-Only—and Its Impact on Tricare Patients
Effective September 1, 2025, Innovative Urgent Care & Family Health Clinics will become Innovative Primary Care, a clinic focused solely on providing long-term, relationship-based primary care. Urgent care services will be limited to our established patients only, and all visits will be by appointment.
As part of this transition, we are working to secure a new primary care contract with TriWest, Tricare’s current administrative contractor. Unfortunately, despite months of preparation, we have not yet been issued a contract to continue providing in-network care to Tricare members.
We Are Actively Working to Stay In-Network
We want to assure you—we have not given up. Our leadership is in ongoing communication with Tricare and TriWest in an effort to secure a contract before our transition deadline of September 1, 2025. But here’s the truth: your voice makes all the difference.
If you’ve received meaningful care from our team, if we’ve helped you avoid a hospitalization or manage a chronic illness, we encourage you to advocate for continued access. This is how you can help:
📞 Call the number on the back of your Tricare or TriWest insurance card
🗣 Tell them:
“I would like Innovative Primary Care to receive a primary care contract so I can continue seeing my provider.”
Your request helps elevate the urgency of our application and shows the network that the community wants—and needs—our clinic in the system.
If You’re Currently Receiving Care With Us…
If you’re under our care for hormone replacement therapy or weight loss management, you can continue that care without interruption through our sister company, Sana Vida Wellness Center.
Care is 100% virtual and offered through a concierge-style membership
Led by Dr. P. John Schanen, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-C
To learn more, call 210-879-4275 and speak directly with Krizza, RN
Suppose you prefer to stay within the Tricare network for these services. In that case, we recommend contacting your on-base PCM or scheduling with one of the military medical homes in San Antonio.
Staying With Innovative Primary Care
Even if you lose Tricare coverage through us temporarily, there are still ways to stay with our team:
We offer cash-pay options for primary care and wellness care
We continue to see non-Tricare patients with Medicare, PPO plans, or self-pay
Virtual care is also available for many services

Our deepest hope is to finalize a Tricare/TriWest contract before September 1, 2025, so that no one has to pause their care or transfer providers. But we need your help to get there. One phone call from you could mean continued access for dozens of others.
📞 Please call the number on your insurance card today
🗣 Politely request: “Please issue Innovative Primary Care a primary care contract. I want to continue receiving care at their clinic.”
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you. Thank you for your service, for your trust in our care, and for standing with us as we fight to keep caring for our military families.
